Mid Winter Shadows

It is an absolutely gorgeous day out today.  I got out a little late today and the mud was beginning to thaw out by the time I finished.  I aquired about an inch or two of muck stuck to the bottom of my boots which made it hard to walk, it was extra sticky mud too, grass, leaves, twigs, ugh!  This is one of my favorite old ranches in the area and I like the way the shadows fall across the hillside during winter.

  1. Today was outstanding, wasn't it? We just got back from snowshoeing to Spud Lake and - wow - it really doesn't get much better than this.

This painting is really nice, Susan. Love the way the reds/oranges of the barn and winter tree balance the evergreens, and of course, the blue shadows on the snow - always a great thing!

Happy New Year and best wishes for a productive and art-filled 2012!

  2. Thanks Sonya. I'm glad you were out enjoying it too, sounds like fun. It's beautiful again today, but wow, the wind is wicked here today!

A very Happy New Year to you and may you have your best year yet in 2012.

  3. I was just over on Sonya's blog commenting on the beauty of winter colors and your lovely painting is another good example of that. I haven't tackled shadows on snow yet but it finally snowed again here so maybe I should give it a go. You've inspired me! All the best to you for 2012.
