Moonrise

This painting was hanging around my studio for a while waiting to be finished.  I was undecided about a few things and had to wait around for the sunset to be just right.  It was amazing how many times just when it was getting close, clouds in the west would block the sun.

  1. This turned out great, Susan. I remember you working on a painting similar to this last year, I believe, but you weren't happy with the way it was going. Is this that same painting?

Painting a moonrise and a nocturne are on my "to do" list, so I always enjoy seeing other painters' handling of those subjects.

  2. Thanks Sonya. This is the same one. Nocturnes are fun, hard to see the colors on the palette though : ). I have found using a headlamp and setting it slightly askew so it won't blind me when I look at the canvas works well. Good luck with that!
