It is snowy AND windy AND bitter cold, which is why I am doing studio work today. I try not to be a wimp about the weather but this wind is too much with temps in the 20s! Ouch!
This is from an earlier study in Yellowstone Park that I have always wanted to do larger.

Easy Pickin's
This is a quick sketch I did in the park. I was wanting to draw all the ducks on the frozen pond but as soon as anyone comes near they come looking for handouts. I was lucky enough to have this young boy and his mom arrive and the ducks headed for easier pickings. I wish I would have had my camera because this would have been a good painting.

Snowy Mesa
It was snowing hard this morning and I had to to paint it. What I found out once I was on the road was that it was a very wet, slippery kind of snow. Luckily I didn't have an accident but I saw one who did slide off the road. I decided to drive the back roads, hoping I didn't get down in a gully and couldn't get back out of it again. The road I was on ended at the base of Mesa Verde and this is where this scene came into view. I took a picture below to show how snowy it was, if you look closely you will see those big flakes.

High Country Snow Storm
This is mostly a larger version of Approaching Storm that I did at the beginning of this year. I always wanted to do a large version of it and here it is. Since it has been snowing the last few days I got inspired to give it a shot.

Early Light
Sorry I haven't posted recently. I did some painting but wiped most of them. I am also trying to get things ready around the house before the snow flies. This time last year we had two foot on the ground and it didn't leave until April!
This scene is in Dolores next to the river. The sun rising over the canyon lit the top half of the trees. I haven't practiced much on buildings so I'm a little weak on this one. This is a beautiful old house in the Craftsman style. These houses are rare around here.
