Cedar Sunrise
This is a painting from where I grew up. At a certain time of year the sun comes up behind these cedars growing along the edge of a lake. I have been working on it off and on for a while trying to get the light and shadow right. Once I got to this point, I felt pretty good about it but may try another larger one later. The big problem now is photographing it, I can't quite get it exactly as it looks in person, but it is close.

Vivian
I did a painting of this young lady earlier, which was titled "Erin", mostly because I didn't know the model's name then. I am proud to say that my first portrait of her got accepted into the Best and Brightest Show at the Scottsdale Artists School for this year, which is showing right now. It is a huge honor to be included in their show and I am truly humbled to be there.
Last Friday was our weekly portrait group and lo and behold there was this beautiful model again. I am trying some new solvents and mediums because Gamosol is giving me a headache. This time I used linseed oil with a small bit of oil of spike lavender for my thinner. I am still getting used to it but I liked this almost transparent wash with build up just for the look of it. It has a softness that reminds me of Susan Lyons work that I am so fond of.

Among the Aspens
I love sitting among the aspens, especially when they are in full fall color.
I am getting ready for a group show at the Goodnight Trail Gallery in Mancos, Colorado opening on the evening of November 8th. The last several pics I have posted are a part of that show. I am extremely honored to be included with Patsy Davis and Veryl Goodnight. I am also very nervous because Patsy and Veryl are huge talents, whom I admire a lot, and I want to show well next to them. If you are in the area please stop by or if not you can check with the gallery. She is posting all of our pieces for the show.
