Steam
This is from the steam train in Durango, Colorado. There is something fascinating about steam engines that seem to be living, breathing beasts. This was a very cold night and with station lights and the steam enveloping the engine, became an etherial vision of a bygone era.

Snow Shadows
We had about 18 lovely inches of snow that dumped on us in about 24 hours. Making my way to the barn to feed the horse I noticed the wonderful shadow pattern from the log fence and my earlier tracks leading to the barn and wanted to paint that.

Moonlit Clouds
I had done a plein air study much earlier of this scene and I just about froze my petunia's off. I always wanted to do a larger one of it and this is what came of it.

Spring Reflections
This is the oldest cabin in the county. It is hard to imagine a family living in this, especially through winter! The phrase "cabin fever" must have come from this sort of living arrangement.
