Haze at Dawn

This was at sunrise in the midwest but this same type of light happens here in the west from the fires that are raging here.  This was painted from my parents farm, one of the last ones to be done from there.

Goldeneye Parade

This was the scene across the road from the Big Horn sheep.  I had been watching this group when the sheep showed up behind me.

Lady with the Red Earring

Every Wednesday is an open portrait group in Durango, which I have recently been attending.  I haven't done any portraits in oil for a very long time and most are not worthy of seeing.  This was yesterdays attempt and since I like it enough I thought I would post it.

The Old Church

This is an old church over in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.  I was close enough to the hot springs, and down wind, to catch a whiff of that strong sulfur smell while I painted this.  Luckily the wind would change from time to time.

Telluride valley willows

This is a small view of the Telluride valley. I blew Fridays attempt and this is yesterday's painting. I have several things on this painting I want to fix, including values. A great way to check your painting to see if your values are working is to take a black and white picture. As you can see values are obviously lacking.

I do like the way the willows were coming along and I learned a lot. It was originally an 8 x 10 but I didn't like the upper part, so I removed it.
